Hello happy hikers!
My best hiking advice for beginners
Be Comfy
Make sure to wear weather appropriate, comfortable clothing that allows you to move around easily.
footwear
Wear comfortable shoes that provide support & protection from rocks, as well as traction on both wet & dry surfaces.
Stretch & stay hydrated
If it’s been a while since you’ve moved your body, stretch out before you take off on foot. — It’s super important to remember to stay hydrated friends, be sure to bring plenty of drinking WATER!!!
Pack Smart
Pack light. The only thing you’ll really need on most of our hikes is plenty of drinking water. On some occasions you will need a sweater &/or some trekking poles. - It’s advised you apply sunblock &/or insect + tick repellent before we take off on our hike.
Bring a Friend
We love the buddy system! Not only for the great company but because there’s safety in numbers. Friends also help us to stay accountable while being active.
Safety first
Be sure to start small with a trail that’s suitable for your fitness level. It’s important to know your limits. Study a map of the area & trails - AllTrails is a great resource for this & offers trail reviews & photos too. Remember to check the weather beforehand. Always let someone know where you’ll be & when you plan to return.
“If you want to get outside but you're not looking for power hikes, Fat Stoner Babes is the group for you. I love the fact that our events are focused less on fitness and more on fun, and you're encouraged to take time to smell the flowers or snap a few photos. The best part of Fat Stoner Babes is that we support diversity and people at all ability levels, and you don't have to be any of the things in the name to be a part of the group, as long as you bring a positive attitude and want to have a good time.”

“This club has been such an amazing opportunity to connect with like minded people (and myself) in nature! I’ve met new friends and found tons of trails I never knew about! So glad I took that leap of faith and showed up that first time. I always get just what I need from a hike with Fat Stoner Babes!”
